Interview tomorrow

Ok, so my husband and I have an appointment for an INS interview tomorrow. We have to
drive to Seattle, which is about 3 hours away, ugh. I want to make sure we are
prepared since it's just a drive and I dont want them telling us to come back next
month or something.

What the interview is about, I have no idea. The letter just said to bring
"supporting documents" I have no idea what they are supposed to support and the
people at the toll free help line aren't really helping. I assume that we are
supposed to be proving that we live together and are really married?

We plan on taking our marriage certificate, our paystubs showing that we have had the
same address through each move and some bills, we have bills with both of our names
on them as well as individual bills with the same address. We also have joint credit
cards, so we thought to take the statements for those along.

Any hints or tips as to what we should take and/or what to expect?

Thanks, Annette

You didn't say what this interview is for, but for my green card interview, we took
mortgage documents, car titles, etc that show joint ownership and also copies of our
jointly filed tax returns for a few years. The things you listed sound good too. If
you have any children together, it would be a good idea to bring copies of their
birth certificates. We also took our wedding album, which the interviewer seemed
quite interested in.

Well, I wish good luck on your interview!

I'm hoping not to have an interview anytime soon because our financials are not commingled at all. Although we just filed AOS but I read on Kamya.com that some blessed couples in our area got their interviews in less than 6 months.

But i'm still interested to know what proof is sufficient besides our county clerk wedding photos and next year's joint tax return. We are planning to open a bank account together too. Maybe his name as a beneficiary on my IRAs, 401ks?

We both have cars (paid off) before we got married. He has a house before meeting me. We don't want any credit cards. We can't add one another to our health insurance until opening period, which is Nov. His car insurance covers when he drives mine, and vice vera. We both already have AAA and wholesaler memebership cards individually and these won't expire until early of next year.

Any thoughts???

I am assuming it is his green card interview, he applied for so many things at once
and they never say which one this particular appointment is for =)

I hold the title to our car alone since I bought it before we were married, but he is
on my insurance as a driver, I will take that too =)

The rabbits ate half of our wedding album but I will haul it along, if nothing else
it will amuse the interviewer =)

Thanks! Annette

Well?

Did you take enough parking $ ? I hate the parking at that nasty federal building
in Seattle!

Re: Interview tomorrow

Well,

We forgot the parking money =) we parked at Uwajimaya and thought they would take
credit cards... they don't.

The interview went alright, I did not take tac returns (letter did not specifically
require them) so we have to go back. Also, my husbands passport went through the
washing machine, so he is required to get a new one. We were given a form to get
back in on any Wednesday between now and October. Oh well, just another excuse to
roadtrip it to Seattle!

The interviewer was most interested in details of our wedding and our photos, we took
snapshots of christmas and various trips as well as our wedding pictures. He kept
our bills, paystubs and our lease, so make sure that you take photo copies if you
need something back!

Thanks all!

Annette

It's north for us, and next time we'll be staying overnight since we have to be there
at 10 AM. IN fact we will probably head up on tuesday after work, go to the
appointment on wednesday and come home thursday, make a mini vacation out of it =)

I really thought we'd be ok using plastic for parking, what kind of third world city
is seattle anyway?!? ;-)
