Default Interview Timeline at Embassy in London

I don't know if this is the correct place to post this question so please
don't shoot me down in flames if it isn't, but I have just been told by the
Embassy in London that they received my paperwork for the CR1 from the NVC
on the 26th of September.

That's the good news but then I was told to expect to wait up to 3 months
for my interview. This is a disaster. I was expecting to wait 6-8 weeks
tops.

Does anyone have any recent experience on how long they waited for their
interview once their file was sent to the Embassy? I'm hoping that they're
only saying this to cover their backs but if it's true then I won't be able
to spend Christmas with my husband.

Is there anything I can do to try to speed this part of the process up?
I've been very patient so far....I've waited around 18 months already for
this whole process to be completed.

Please help.

They told me 6 months which I knew was wrong, more like 6 weeks.

But for current timelines post on the marriage nased forum at http://britishexpats.com or look on www.visajourney.com
