Insurance coverage for elderly immigrants
I would greatly appreciate it if anyone could tell me if my parents, who are
76 and 72 years of age respectively would qualify for Medicare once the immigration process is complete. I'm assuming they don't but I'd like to make sure. If not does anyone know what kind of affordable insurance coverage is out there that they could purchase. TIA Mel |

No. That's why you had to provide an affidavit of support. They become eligible if they a) earned 40 social security credits, i.e., worked for 10 years, or b) if they become US citizens. -Joe -- I am not a lawyer. Thanks Joe. That helps to clear things up quite a bit. Mel |
