Immigration refom bill submitted today in House
Optimizing Visa Entry Rules and Demanding Uniformed Enforcement
(OVERDUE) Immigration Bill - Highlights
a.. Restoring America's immigration system to more traditional
numbers and encourages the assimilation of America's most recent great wave
in prioritizing nuclear family admissions, tightening the investor immigrant
criteria, and tightening the employment-based green card category to ensure
that prospective immigrants who will uniquely contribute to American society
are admitted.
b.. Eliminates "chain migration" in accordance with the
recommendations of the Jordan Commission.
c.. Eliminates the "visa lottery" in accordance with the
recommendations of the Jordan Commission.
d.. Ensures that automatic birthright citizenship accrues to
children born in the U.S. only if at least one parent is a citizen or lawful
permanent resident.
e.. Makes voting in a foreign election a basis for potential loss of
citizenship.
f.. Suspends the Visa Waiver Program until DHS makes certain
certifications to the Congress.
g.. Prohibits states from granting in-state tuition rates to illegal
aliens on the basis of graduation from a U.S. high school (in addition to
residence) unless they offer the same rate to all U.S. citizens.
h.. Affirms the inherent authority of State and local law
enforcement officers to enforce the immigration laws of the United States;
requires Federal immigration authorities to respond to requests for
assistance from State and local authorities.
i.. Appropriates funds necessary to fully reimburse providers of
federally mandated emergency medical treatment of illegal aliens, but only
if the individual provider collects and reports to DHS all citizenship
information and other non-clinical information concerning each illegal alien
treated.

Re: Immigration refom bill submitted today in House
Thanks GeekBoy.
Tancredo's the man. Everyone else talks, he tries. That
gets my vote.
Giuliani talks like Tancredo, but I'll bet IF he gets elected
it'll turn out to be nothing but lies.
Thank God for Tancredo. Thank God for a congressman who
has the courage to stand up to the hispanic/latino special interest
groups.
His proposed legislation isn't enough (it doesn't secure/militarize/fence
our borders or provide punitive legal enforcement against employers)
but it's a good start!

Re: Immigration refom bill submitted today in House
Well suspension of the VWP programme isn't going to happen as it'll kill the tourist industry (whose going to want to stand for hours in Grovesnor Square just to go to Disneyland)
Similarly their ideas of only allowing the VWP with biometric passports was killed when it was pointed out that most don't have biometric passports and applying for Tourist Visas just wasn't going to happen

It's not in THOMAS ( http://thomas.loc.gov ) yet.
I wonder if it has been officially filed yet?
A search of the Congressional Record site comes up empty as well.

Unfortunately the majority most likely will not like it since it does not
have enough amnesty qualities.

This may prove to be the successful strategy to get this through the House,
through the Senate, and past the Conference Committee with enough votes to
override the Presidential Veto.
Make each bill lean and clean, and that way nobody gets tempted to load it
up with poison pills or deal-killers.
One Step at a Time.

Strabo did a brilliant job ripping that piece of legislation to pieces but

Yes it is. We have to have a compramise or we will have a bigger problem.
What is done is done and it must be fixed and fixing it is not going to be
