illegal working
A friend of mine had employment authorization. He is still working even though the authorization expired and no longer eligible to work.
What can happen to him? |

Thrown out of the country, and not able to come back for ten years, if I am not completely wrong...As well as a fine for the employer. |

Even if the GC expired, the status as permanent resident did not. Nothing is suspended in such a case. The person continues to have work authorization. The original poster, however, is presumably talking about an EAD. And in fact, the person is not allowed to work with an expired EAD. |

A Green Card holder is authorized to work permanently. True, an expired GC is not enough to prove employment eligibility for I-9 purposes, but this only applies during the initial hiring process. Once she is hired, there is no need to ever suspend her. |

I think that Joe's response referred to that exact situation. There was no need for her to be suspended. |
