Wow! just been quoted $6.000 legal + $3,250 USCIS fee's from our attorney
to lift our conditions on our visa (2 adults + child) bit of a shocker!!!

You invested a lot of money. EB-5 are subject to an institutional dislike. [The program was enacted by Congress with a little nose pinching regarding a perceived aroma]. Don't know the facts, but it may not be all that unreasonable.

Considering the work involved and the level of scrutiny that 829s are getting, I'd say that the price quoted was a bargain.

And I'll bet that Hugh paid more than $6,000 for HIS green card!
Perhaps only a lawyer could say it with a straight face, but I'd argue that bashing attorneys about $6,000 for keeping one's green card is a false focus of the cost of the assistance, without taking account of its value.

that final sticker price always is an unwelcome shock but at least once done you have no more messing around for 3 to 10 years depending on whether you want to just remain a permanent res or file for citizenship.

Just wondering if you have had your conditions removed yet? We are in the process of applying to remove our conditions on our EB5 Green Cards. Our current cards expire on February 14, 2011 I started in October bugging the lawyers to get going with our paperwork and of course it is still not filed (it should be shortly!) I am wondering what happens after February 14 when our cards will expire. I understand it can take 6 (or more) months for the approval process. What do we have to prove we are still legal residents?
