Default I-485 sent back, need guidance

All,

Need serious guidance with my problem.

My 140/485/AP/EAD was sent to TSC (Texas Service Center) on the 30th.
It was returned back saying the visa #s were not available. The visa #s
were infact available when the application was received and so we
contested that. Now the applications were sent back again saying the
new form was not used for 485 (The form expired after 9/30, it was
valid when they received it).
To add to this misery the filing fees for all the applications have
changed.

What is the best way to deal with this?

Your guidance is very much appreciated.

Do you have a lawyer? If so, ask him to sort it out. If not, contact a
Congressperson for assistance.

I-485s falsely being rejected before October 1 is a known problem, and I
remember seeing some guidance from USCIS about it but don't recall the
exact details.

The filing fee should be the pre-October 1. Basically, you are asking that
your case be treated as filed before October 1, with all the benefits of
that date. But if they insist on the new fee, I wouldn't bother fighting
that.
