If the file is under pending review, which I suspect the background
check is pending, is there a phone number or some sort you can contact
the FBI or something?

I don't know the way of contacting FBI, I believe it's by email only now, and takes a few months to get a response. Do a search on this forum and perhaps you'll come up with the number/email.
Best Wishes,
Rene

it is a different department that can not be contact by phone or email
anymore. My name check has being pending since Feb'06.

Ok, what happened was that my file (for my wife) was under
investigate... and no idea why they held for almost two years for the
2nd interview, which took place on 1/9... after almost two hours for
the interview, questions, with my lawyer been present, it finally got
approved!!!
Now we are waiting for the 10 year perm. green card to mail to us...
question, the immigration officer could be like delay to turn the file
in, and so it may delay for us to receive the green card in the mail,
right? I seen postings here that people receive their welcome letter /
green card in the mail fairly fast... it's almost two weeks, still
nothing.
