Default How Long till Green Card comes in the mail?

Hello everyone. Just recently, my son has received an I-551 on the JFK Airport. Unfortunetely, he forgot to ask them how long it would take to receive the Green Card in the mail. His address is that of Philadelphia, PA, if that matters. Does anyone know how long it takes to receive the Green Card in the mail, once getting stamped at the airport, any recent experiences? Thank you for your time.

For me and my family it took three weeks. Entered in Seattle.

We were told to phone after 10 month if it hadn't arrived.

SSN we had to apply for in us and it took about a week.

FWIW, the stamp is worth the same as the little card your son is going to get. He can do everything with the stamp that he could do with the card. Except for sticking it in his wallet.

Some people I know of with conditional status ('2 year green card') never received the actual card before removal of conditions, and had to get a new stamp every year.

Are you asking because he's planning to change addresses soon?

Elaine
