How important is job creation for an L1 New Office Visa?
Have a UK company, turnover £400k and would like to open a US office and move to the states, with a view to moving permanently.
I'd probably only have one employee out there other than myself and my wife working.
The emphasis on job creation for the L1 doesn't seem to be as great as say an E2. Anyone have an experience with this?

Nothing has changed with immigration law since the last time you asked questions about the L1 back in 2016 - assuming your underlying business hasn't changed of course.

How 'important' it is is deliberately left ambiguous in order to provide the Officer a wide latitude in which to make decisions. This is something that should be asked in a discussion with an immigration attorney experienced in L1 transfers to start a new branch of an existing company.
Again, .like you were told 4 years ago.

400K Turnover fora Multinational country is probably unusual.

His actual question was actually quite limited. I answered the precise question asked; nothing less.
Others here have suggested legal consultation. OP wants an answer before he goes to the best source for answer. I will admit to finding that kind of strange.

Maybe it's only me then that interpreted that the OP wanted someone who has experience in this to elaborate a little more as opposed to just a yes
Aside from that though, to the OP, we looked at an L1 but job creation was a major hurdle for us, being advised that maybe one US resident employee might be okay for the first year but getting towards year 3-4, we'd probably need 4 or 5 employees. Keep in mind (unless rules have changed or our guidance was incorrect) an L1 for a new office is initially issued for just one year so you really do need to hit the ground running.

I’d say very important. We did an L1A new office. At the end of the first year we had six full time employees and $2 million turnover. We had also exceeded our goals set out in our business plan submitted when we applied for the L1 new office visa. Our visa wasn’t renewed.
