How can I speak with an immigration officer/supervisor at the port of entry airport
My fiancé is in the US currently with me on a K1 and we are getting married
in a few weeks. My fiancé's daughter is 4 years old. She has a valid, issued, K2 visa and passport that expires in April. My fiancé has an affidavit of sole guardianship. My fiancé cannot leave the US to get her daughter and travel back together because a K1 visa is a single-entry visa. I want to travel to get her daughter. I want to find out what documents I will need to be permitted to enter the US with her. I am planning on using the following: * Her passport with K2 visa * A notarized document from her mother stating the situation, giving me power of attorney and care and custody for the purpose of bringing her into the US to join her mother. * A phone number where they could call her mother while we are at the airport going through the port of entry. * A notarized copy of every page of her mother's passport, showing the visa, the I94 entry paper stating that she is currently in the US, etc. I want to check with the actual people that would allow me into the US or not, the USCIS Visa Officer Supervisor at the Los Angeles International Airport to make sure this is what I need. If possible, I would like a faxed letter from the supervisor stating what I need, so I can bring that as further evidence that I should be allowed to enter with our daughter. Also, I want to know if the K2 status of the daughter would be technically invalid after I marry her mother, or be considered valid until it expires. This will tell me if I need to travel before the marriage, or can go just afterwards. If anyone can help me find a phone # to call and ask or give me hints about trying to find the phone # I would appreciate. Also, any comments on my plan are very welcome. Thank you. |

John,
As I wrote in your other thread, I think you may need to do the same thing at the Bangkok end to get your step-daughter through Thai exit-immigration at Don Muang and onto the airplane. I fear that exit from Thailand may be a bigger hurdle than entry into the US. The only suggestion I can think to offer is the same suggestion that I offered before - speak to the respective Whites, one at each end, and see what their thoughts are. Jeff, I did speak with the Whites. They told me to ask the questions I am asking about the port of entry officers at the airports. So far I cannot find a way to contact them. Thanks, John |

John,
I was wondering of that might be the case, since you did post that you'd spoken to Mrs. White. My hope was that they would have a better idea of how to make these contacts than the general news-group public would. I hope you can find someone who knows the answers. For Don Muong, perhaps the US embassy in Bangkok might have some suggestions for who to contact and how to contact them. Or the Thai embassy in Washington DC or the consulates in NY or LA - whichever you are closest to. But I fear that this may be clutching at straws...
