Hi, and welcome to BE.

Bear in mind that there may not be a way for you to move - for the majority of people, getting a visa for the US is nigh on impossible.

But have a read of the links given above, and then once you've figured out if you are eligible for any of the visas mentioned, you can come back and ask questions about it.

What do you and your husband/wife/partner do?

Ah, I see, probably no chance of a visa then - even if you did have a job offer you wouldn't qualify for a H1B or any green card, as the job doesn't require a degree and/or isn't specialised enough. Unless you can find half a million dollars down the back of the sofa or a long lost close relative that is a US citizen?! Or you want to work for it and have it as a long term goal i.e. get yourself a degree, work your way up in a company that has offices in the US etc? But that's a 10 year plan realistically.

But why not somewhere in the EU? No visa required then and plenty of sunshine!

And you'd be surprised at just how great the UK is, you don't appreciate it until you're gone - just take a read of the Moving Back to the UK forum to see why people in the US (and elsewhere) are desperate to leave and move back to good old Blighty! The same problems are everywhere unfortunately.

Best of luck with it wherever you go.

The US is a notoriously difficult place to emigrate to. If you're just fed up of the UK, other places might be easier. Most of Europe gets a lot of sun, and should be a breeze to move to in comparison.

Well you have all the Europe to chose from to work and live. Why not vacation in a warmer southern climate in the hopes of finding a country you are able to emigrate to that you all would like. Florida is not the only place in the world with warmth, humidity, hurricanes, large snakes, bugs, high populations of elderly and/or spanish speaking individuals.

you have little chance .but remember living here is not like a holiday
when you have to pay your own utilty bills and a childs cut finger cost $5000
you begin to see the advantage of the UK

I seem to remember paying utility bills when I lived in the UK.

Yes, the weather and holiday atmosphere is very seducing, but as others have pointed out, living here is indeed very very different.

Medical expenses are HUGE, example, my husband has good government insurance BUT recently I had the misfortune to loose a couple of chunks of two teeth within six weeks of each other. The bill for two crowns, even with our insurance (which doesn't cover it unless it's an accident type thing) was a grand total of $2012. The cost of a nice holiday for me and the hubster!!

Hi Ray, way down here in the south, we are pretty much on A/C 12 months of the year.
Last year few chilly nights, this year almost none.

Certainly keeps the meter hot.

So no, then. Unfortunately.

Still, the world is a big place and there are many parts of Europe that is sunny, where you can get by with English, without having to go to Spain.

"hurricanes, large snakes, bugs" and those pesky high populations of the elderly
