Hi everyone.
Timeline:
Entered US from Canada on k-1 Visa (june 2002)
AOS with I-551 stamp in passport (Nov 2002)
Never received the conditional green card so had to extend I-551 stamp
TWICE!
Inquired at the Seattle BCIS about status and basically they told me
Nebraska Service Center never received the application from seattle!
So now the extension is to Dec 2004.
Received letter from NSC in april 2004 indicating the card will arrive
in 3 weeks time...still waiting.
My canadian passport will expire feb 2005 so I will have to get a new
one soon. The problem is it contains the I-551 stamp with the
extension date and I still haven't receive my card yet plus in August
2004 I will need to file the removal of conditional green card status.
I will be visiting my folks in Toronto at end of july 04 so I was
thinking to do the paper work for passort at that time.
What should I do? Should I get the passport done while I'm in Canada
and then go back to Seattle BCIS to get a new stamp for the new
passport but will this affect my removal of conditional GC? Or should
I just wait until I file removal of conditonal GC in august and then
get a new passport at Vancouver??
How difficult would it be to get a new canadian paasport from the US?
Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks for yor help!
Philip

You can renew your Canadian passport after it expires (by mail), so why not
wait until Feb 05?
This way, you'll still have your stamp if you need it (your only evidence of
your CPR status).

Worst case scenario - carry both passports when you travel.
