Help!!

Hello All,
Decided to post this after spending weeks trawling through similar sites and the US Embassy site to no avail.
My husband, two children and I (UK Citizens) have been discussing moving to America for a few years now, but have not attempted it due to fear of the immigration system, no relatives out there etc.
I have found out recently that I the man I thought was my father isn't and that in actual fact my biological father lives in America and is a Chief Master Sargeant of the US Airforce(no I don't know what that means either!) He is not on my birth certificate, although we are looking into changing that. I was wondering if this 'Jenny Jones type' moment in my life will in fact help any application I may submit? Can I apply via Immediate Family route or will I have to look at other options? Any advice on this or where to look would be most gratefully received.

Re: Help!!

Hi ..I think you will have major problems tring to change your birth certificate unless He and you Mum will assist..and even then it may take many years

Without that you will have to decide how you can make a new life in the US.. Or what type of visa you will be able to get.... Presuming you are not valid for the Diversity lottery.. that leave getting employment...Which unless you have a degree and a specialist knowledge which the US wants...your options are limited there, or invest a minimum of $100k and buy yourself a business over here ..

Re: Help!! Immediate Family Visa

While I won't completely rule out that it might help, my guess is that
your Jenny Jones situation won't make a difference. It might be worth
discussing this with an Immigration Attorney competent in family
immigration and citizenship.

Basically, the way I see it, your father could have passed on his
citizenship to you only under the following conditions:

- he must have spent at least the required time physically in the USA
(depending on when you were born, probably a total of about five years,
and some of them must have been after age 15).

- you must have been born out of wedlock (if your mother was married to
your stepfather, I don't think you would inherit citizenship. I'm not
positive about this, though).

- your biological father must have legally recognized you as his child
before your 18th birthday.

I won't rule out some other options. For instance, he may be able to
sponsor you under the Family 3rd preference, if you are patient enough.
