H1B visa while in the US
Hello,
I was told that once you get the Notice of Approval for your H1B visa, you can send your passport and related documents (I-797, I94, photo ID...) to the Dept of State in Saint Louis, and they will stick the H1B visa on your passport and return it to you. The point is that in that case, you don't have to worry about being stucked in your country of birth if the process is delayed over there. Is this true? Has anyone some info about that? Thanks! Yes, in many cases this is true (assuming that you already had an H-1B
visa; you can't use this if you just changed from F-1 to H-1B, for instance). Please visit my FAQ page and find the link to the Department of State Web site.
