Default H1B Visa Status

Hi,

This is my first post. Apologies if it's been already answered.

I have been a MS Access Programmer for 20+ years and I want to work in the US under the H1B visa program. Can you still apply for a H1B visa since the change of administration in the US government?

Hi, and welcome to BE.

You have posted in our 'Jobs Offered' section, which is a place for employers and recruitment agencies to post vacancies. So I'll move your thread to our US immigration forum, where you'll get good info.

There have been no changes to the H1-B program that I'm aware of, it would be your sponsoring employer that would apply though, rather than you. As H1-B's are so hard to get with the lottery, is there any chance of a transfer with your employer? Or finding a job with another employer who does transfer maybe?

Best of luck.

Your Employer can apply for a H1b if that is what you mean, sounds like you will need to go through the lottery next year.

The simple answer to your questions is 'yes'

The longer answer is that 'you' never apply for the H1B in the first instance. A prospective employer submits the petition, and then if and when you are successful in the lottery you can move forward with the visa process.

2021 applications are closed now, so earliest will be April 2022 for a fall 2022 start (as long as you can a) find an employer and b) be successful in the lottery)
