Hi all
I had a question regarding h1b. Can a company get an h1b for a person as a independent contractor.
Another question is that suppose the company gets a h1b for an employee can that employee act as a indepedent contractor and get paid directly by the client he is working with.
What about the work location. Do these software consultatnts who coe here thru body shoppers, get labor for every client location they work ??
Also whats the salary structure of an employee in the state of ohio and california. (if he makes 60000 USD/yr. how much will be cut from his paycheck every week. ).

An independent contractor runs his/her own company as a sole proprietor. The
answer to your question is no. The company that sponsors your H1-B has to
employ you.

This is how I have seen it done, whether is legal I dont know.
You get an H1B with company A, then you get contracts with companies, B,C,D,
etc, then those companies pay company A for your work, they take the taxes
out, and cut you a check at the end. It might be hard to find a company that
will just do that for the fun of it, but some will take out lets say 10% of
your check, for example. http://www.h1bjobs.com
