H1b

Hi,

Does anybody have any experience with www.h1base.com.

Is this really worth paying for?

Anybody had any good/bad experience with them?

Many thanks,

Regards

I have no experience with them one way or the other, but noticed the
disclaimer that they are not a law firm. That is not automatically a
disqualification, as long as you know what you are paying for. For
instance, it is legit to provide general information, and probably also
to fill out forms, as well as many other things.

What specific services were you looking for that they offer?

What are you thinking of buying from them?

Sounds dodgy to me because all it is is listing jobs, you can do that part anyway via various job sites, and the employer would then sponsor you and everything....this sounds like a scam because there is no guarantee that you'd get a job and a visa from it.

Re: H1b

Basically, you can find out your H1B related job from many different
resources.

For example, you may can post your resume on http://www.monster.com or
www.hotjob.com.

That's the way I could get a H1B job 3 times and now I am waiting for my
final processing for Permanent Residency approval.

I wonder that this type of www.h1bbase.com just want to take your money
without any confirmed responsibility to get your job or help you out because
you can find out a huge amount of resources regarding H1B or immigrant
related law from news group or other free internet web site.

Your H1B sponsoring company will hire the immigration lawyer to help you out
all the paper works based on my experiences.

I believe that most of H1B sponsoring company willing to pay this lawyer fee
and other necessary cost if you are worth to working in US.

Only immigration lawyer can give you the correct answer how to process your
paper works.

I wish your good luck for new job seeking in US.

Solar.

Re: H1b

Most people probably got sponsored jobs by hunting the places direct and finding someone they would work with to contact, like design manager or whoever rather than the monkey in HR that wouldn't know a thing.

Also, resume is quite different to a CV, so you might want to go through and check out what people ahve said about resumes' in the US forum as there's a fair bit of info there.

Cheers bob for your advice,

I have had a few 'native' americans have a look at my resume and they seem to think that it is OK, but I am open to any comments/suggestions that anyone has to make.

I know what you mean about the 'monkey HR' people, I have had a few run in's with them and they have proved that they know very little! :)
I have been trying to bypass them by phoning the company and asking for IT managers instead, but most companies just pass you onto their HR dept.!!

I guess the best way is to have an 'inside' lead via a friend/aquantance from BritishExpats.com ;), and I will endevour to keep trying :)

Thanks again for all your helpfull advice.

Kind regards
Col

Re: H1b

Dear Cokey,

Yes I've got sponsorship by company A, B and C and now working for company D
for more than 3 years.

This company D helped me out to processing permanent residency application
too.

I never paid any extra money to get my initial H1B visa and transfer it to
other company.

Also, I have experience to hire the tech people (US citizens) for current
working company because I've titled as manager position from company D.

After post AD "Wanted" on internet and local news paper, I've received more
than 50 resumes within a week.

It just took me a 20 seconds or 30 seconds to check one resume and other in
most cases because I had no good
Enough time to carefully check it out all the resumes.

This would be the same thing for most of company in US for the hiring
manager.

Just quick check (Within a minute) and trash it into trash box next to my
desk.

Even someone sent me more than 10 pages of resumes!!

Do you think all the hiring manager could read this like 10 pages resume?

Simple is the best, but you must emphasize which area is your strong point
to make attractive your resume for hiring manager anyway.

One of candidate listed all his/her experienced area as like can do
everything!

I strongly believe that this kind of resume should fail too.

There is no correct answer which resume is the best or worst.

I wish your good luck for job seeking in US anyway.

Thank you.

Solar

Hi Cokey

I've been using h1base for a few months now with a full sign up service where they email your resume to the companies directly.

I've had a few companies write to me. As part of a multi-pronged attack I would say they are pretty good. They give you a full submission report of who your resume has been sent to (in my case 100's). I've had some good advice from the people there too.

h1base gives you a template for resume layout too.

I have been using dice and monster too in addition, using their search agents in particular.

Best of luck.. I think you'll get a little frustrated doing this search crap, I've been at it for a few months now

Thing is, you can do that with a number of other job finding websites, and they don't charge you a penny as they get paid by the employer...

Well h1base has a full list of sponsor companies in your area they send your resume to.. even if there are no jobs advertised they still send them directly.

I read somewhere that 70% (probably wrong % I'm quoting) of h1bs aren't advertised on job sites.. dunno the truth behind that but I personally have been contacted by companies that haven't advertised.

Gotta be wrong, because to get the visa, the company had to have tried to make an effort in hiring a USC or PR...so it seems unlikely that many would scout overseas', not to mention the added cost of doing it...

Hi there,

I am thinking about paying for $495 USD to h1base, you said you've been with them for a few months now, can you elaborate more on your experience with them? Also since the 2007 cap was reached last week, is there any point purchasing h1base at this point? My MSc and PhD were both from schools in the US and both were in biomedical engineering (actually more biology than engineering, hence the concern about being qualified)

I would really appreciate your help on this.

Thank you in advance.

You may be better of putting the money toward aa plane ticket for a visit to the companies that employs your skill set ...

I agree with Ray. Had a couple of people call me but they turned out to be uninterested when they found out I was out of the US. Like Ray says, best chance is to get over here and bang on office doors imo :(

OR use some UK agencies that specialise in sending people to the US, I know they exsist :)

Best of luck!

Anyone have any examples of these companies?
Sounds like that kind of thing will be very expensive, what can they do differently to anyone else? Unless they have a lot of contacts who have alot of availiable jobs!

Message to Solar/Thread
hello
i read the whole conversation. how did you get the 4 H-1B visas bc as someone said, once companies realize that you are not allowed to work in the USA, well its over.
i understand the option : go there and knock on every door, but it doesnt look serious to look for a qualified job in a NYC company for example by walking in.
and even if you have the chance that someone likes you, you'll still have to come home, fill out all the paperworks, and go back to the States with a valid visa. right ?
Does anyone know people in NYC bc this is where i'm looking for a job ?
thanks guys
