Default greencard v's Visa Stamp

My greencard has recently turned up at my Mother in Laws house in Ohio. I am now back in England packing up and getting ready to fly over to the US in a few weeks.

I have the I-551 stamp in my passport. Can I use that stamp and go through immigration or should I get the greencard sent over? Also, I understand that with the greencard I can go through the US line. Is that correct? and if I do go through using just the I-551 stamp can I still go through the US citizens line?

Thanks,

D

I travel with my green card internationaly all the time and yes you do get to go through the Citizens line. When the airport people are directing you they don't specify if u have the I-551 stamp or the actual card, they just say Perminant residents and US citizens this way, all others that way.

Yes, you can still use the stamp. They may direct you to secondary
inspection though. Whether you can use the US citizens line depends on the
airport so don't take Sarina's post as gospel. My usual point of entry
(Washington Dulles) didn't use to let GC holders go through the USC line
(unless I was going through with my wife who is a US citizen) but has
recently changed to allow them to do so.

Andy.

You can use the stamp in your passport for entry without any problems. In
999 out of 1000 cases mail does not get lost, but you don't want to be the
one where a plane with your greencard in it crashes.
