Green card Lottery
Hi All,
Just trying to find out some info on the green card lottery as i have a friend that would dearly like to live in the states and visits as much as possible.
He has assets that would nett him $300,000 but he has no girlfriend or family in the states and i gather he can apply for the green card lotto?.
Can any one tell me what the process involves for him and the time frame ?
And where to download any application forms he may need?
Thanks again.
Kind regards

You do realize there are non-marriage visa newsgroups, right? You are posting from
Brit Expats.. If he is from the UK, he is not eligible.
Finally, search anywhere for "2003 Diversity Visa" or go to the official source for
Visa info from the people that grant visas.
http://travel.state.gov/visains-
tructions.html
You will note that you had to apply in October 2001.
I believe that sometime this month, the DV-2004 will be announced.

Re: Green card Lottery
Yes the Visa lottery is for countries that presently have a small number of
immigrants. The countries listed are somewhere on the Dept of Justice web site and
not INS web site, but I think you can find a link somewhere on the INS site.

Hi Alan,
I'm sure I read somewhere about an "Enterprenuerial Visa"
whereby if someone has a certain amount of money to invest in the US the can obtain a visa.
I can't remember where I read ot, or what the amount is, or indeed even if it still exists.

There is a "treaty investor" visa (E-2), and I've heard that people with as little as
$10,000 and a good business plan with support from American investors and suppliers
have been successful. Didn't the poster say the friend had $300,000?

Who knows, maybe he'd hit it off with his secretary...
