Green Card Issue & H1

Hello
I am IT Consultant on H1 visa. My parents have greencard & they have applied for my green card. But as u know it takes years & years to get green card. Now as market is tough i am finding it tough to get projects. their are offers for full time jobs but as i am having H1 .. i am not being able to go for it. My parents due to physical problems cant work much. Is their any way i can get work permit so that if i dont get a job in my profession i can work any where & make a living for myself & my parents. Please guide me. I cant afford to consult any lawyers. Thanks in advance.
