green card holder. Tax problem, please help

I hope somebody can help me on this.
Im a green card holder temporarily outside the US on a reentry
permit.
I stupidly followed wrong advice and in 2005 I didnt file my tax
returns (federal
and State). I didn't have any US income for 2004 so I didn't owe any
money,
but now Im very concerned about the repercussions on my immigration
status.
What should I do?
thank you very much.

Re: green card holder. Tax problem, please help

This is me again. Anybody can help???

On the IRS tax instructions it appears that below a certain income one
is NOT required to file taxes, see
http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p17.pdf, Table 1-1, Table 1-2, and
Table 1-3.

Therefore, since I had no US income in 2004, I would think that not
filing
last year should not be a problem. Am I interpreting this correctly?

thanks!

My advice would be to call the IRS help line (1-800-829-1040) and ask
them. You may or may not get a correct answer there.
Trying to undersand the U.S. Tax Code is like trying to understand the
USCIS! :)

If you are still out of the country, then contact the US Embassy. They should have an IRS dept for forms & advice. I know UK had one when we lived there.
PS. That was many years ago.
