Talking Green Card Came

Hello,

Well the whole ordeal is over with. Yesterday in the mail was my husbands green card. Took only a week for it to be mailed. Three more years and he can become a citizen, he really wanted citizenship now to vote. Along with citizenship, my husband wants to sponsor his mother. Can he begin the process now or does he need to gain citizenship first? His mother is under his fathers petiton which is employment based as was my husband until we got married. His family has been waiting for almost 10 years for their green cards. His father and mother really don't have much of a relationship anymore. My husband was worried that his dad will remove her from the petition. If that should happen he would like to start this process for her. I gather if my husband can petiton for her, it could be another long wait (not as quick as our process). If anyone has any advice or has petition their parent, I'd apperciate it (even though this is a marriaged based forum. Thanks again for all the wonderful help!

He can not file for her until he becomes a citizen.
It took my wife about a year from filng N-400 to take the oath, so plan
on 4 more years before he can file. Note: if he has been married to you
for at least 90 days already, then he will be able to file N-400 90 days
before the third anniversary of getting permanent residency.
