Got SSN in Houston.

I had waited 10 working days from the day of my arrival in Houston (K1) to go to the SS Office since it takes them in average 2 weeks to enter your information in the system. The office opens at 9:00 AM. I got there at 8:40 AM and there were already 60 people ahead of me. I had to wait 2 hours before my number was called at a window. I gave my passport, my I-94 with the stamp 'work authorized', and the SS-5 form (you can get this form at the entrance of the office or download it from the social security website). I didn't provide any birth certificate and wasn't asked for. The lady was nice, checked that I was in the system, i was, so she told me that I would get my Social Security card within 7-10 days. I got it in the mail exactly one week after I applied.
