Got interview date! And I have some questions...
Hello,
Even though our on-line status still says that their last letter was
returned to them, we received my wife's date for an interview today
(September 6th). It's been more than 2 years since we filed.
We have pretty much everything they request in the letter. However,
if you could answer some questions for me, I'd really appreciate it:
- When they say "bring photos", do they only want the ones from our
wedding date, or can be from our trips, birthdays, etc?
- We have a few letters and some cards that we sent to each other
years ago (we pretty much spoke on the phone). Do we really need to
translate those? How much of this kind of evidence (photos, letters)
do they actually need?
- My wife applied to renew her work permit and has a biometrics appt.
on September 24th. I know that the new work permit may actually arrive
before her green card, so should we still go through it? What would
happen if we get the work permit after the green card?
- And my last question is this: my wife was pregnant when she was
given the medical examination. Do we have to schedule an appt. with a
doctor again? Someone once told me that it really wasn't necessary.
Thank you for all your help.
Alex R.

Hi Alex, congrats on the interview date!
Bring photos from your wedding and other trips that you've taken, family events, photos that show you together over the 2 years.
You don't need evidence from years ago. Bring a good sampling of photos...I'm assuming you won't have letters to show since you now live together. They need evidence of your joint life together - bank statements, bills, etc. in both names.
Once you apply for the EAD renewal, you kind of have to go through with it. I don't think you can cancel it...you paid the fee anyway, might as well get the card. I say yes, go ahead with the renewal EAD. You never know, if for some reason she doesn't get approved at the interview, she'll need the renewal card. Almost the same thing happened to us...hubby ended up with 2 EAD cards just before his interview.
As long as you applied for AOS within 1 year of the medical being done, I can't see why she would need a new one.
Best Wishes,
Rene

divorce certificate if this applies to either
go to the bank and get them to write you a letter if you have a joint
account or accounts
joint credit card statements
employers letters with the date you were employed and your salary and
on their letterhead.
we had the tax papers for 2 years but they didnt ask for it.
birth certificates for both
my husband went and had 2 passport pictures
done they took them
we had a good friend to write us a letter stating we are married and he
performed the wedding ceremony and we are living together as man and
wife and they took that
passport
...we took our pictures wedding and 2 albums but they didnt ask to
see them...we had 2 boxes of materials with both names of them they
didnt look at anything
be sure to read the receipt and take everything on the letter...... your
receipt for the 485 all the information is on it.....this is a
checklist.....good luck to you and your wife.....our interview was this
past May and we were in there and out in
the actually interview lasted 20 minutes at the most for we spend about
20 minutes waiting to
be called in
If I can help you in any way please email me.
Have everything organized .......I went to staples and brought a folder
with plastic sheets and file the orginal and then the copy and the
man could look at the book and take what he wanted.....
be sure to have all your receipts we took
receipts of the 129, 130, 765, and the 485 and plus we made copies of
these as well
I put the folder up and since it is so organized if I needed something
it would not be hard to find

If the USC was born in the USA and has a US passport, he doesn't need
a birth certificate.

Everybody, thank you for all your comments. You guys are really
helpful.
Noorah101, you are right, and we will go through the EAD renewal
process. Better safe than sorry :)
Brenda Ballard, thank you. I sure will email you if I have more
questions.
eggysbrain, I'll start getting together all the pictures that I can
think of (and we have so many, ok, maybe more of the baby). Thank you
for your advise.
