Good banks?

Re: Good banks?
Just to balance the other posts, I'd say avoid Bank of America like the plague. Crappiest, surliest, least helpful customer service I've ever encountered.
My vote always goes for finding a good local Credit Union that you're eligable to join. My (admittedly lone) experience has been excellent in almost every way dealing with my local Texans Credit Union. ............But as always, individual experience is no guarantee that you won't find the Credit Union from hell, and want nothing more than to deal with the corporate drones at BoA!

For us, we use BofA and also a local Credit Union. I've been in the BofA branch office maybe twice since we opened the accounts. Everything is done online. I'm not interested in getting to know the bank manager, as long as their website says up and functioning, thats all that matters.
The credit union is nice cuz the mortgage is thru them and its an ok rate, but again, all my banking is done online with them.
Also, if you are going to get foreign money from a Bank, BofA is commercial as opposed to a credit union and they can do that for you (not very well, but they can). But then again, I don't get foreign money from a bank, I use AAA - its a free service.

Whatever happened to them.
And the Nescafe Gold couple.
They don't make them like this anymore.
Which may be a blessing in some instances........... think Shake and Vac...

CityBank (Corp), is also very big NYC, you can open online echecking & online Ultimate savings, once opened you can then bank online and at branch. Must be in that order. NOT opened at branch.
HSBC, very big now in NYC, again open online 1st.
Problem with online, you would need SSN.
Savings rates are dropping, as FED, drops rates. Really annoying.
I lived in NYC, for many many years.
