Nobody answered the job prospect, but being realistic the Construction Industry is in the Toilet and it will be a long time before things change around.
Perhaps get a job with an International Practice and seek a transfer down the road.

From what i understand, if you find an employer who wants your services they can sponsor your for a GC.... how would this compare if running in tandom with the family sponsorship route? is it quicker? can you do both routes at the same time and take which ever comes first?
Thanks all!

Thanks David, thats sound advise. If however that international company idea isn't an option, how would i go about looking to get employment in the USA? any website/agencies i can look at? You say the industry will be down the pan for a long time, but generally i think the construction industry is always the first that gets hit hard, and i thought it would also be the first to recover? No one ever knows but i'm hopeing 2-3 years... for my sake here at least!

Cool thanks for that, it was an interesting read. Its seems from reading that that employer sponsorship seems abit pointless and long winded if I have the oppertunity of family sposorship? Also, with the employer route i dont get a immigrant visa meaning i cant become a citizen if i wanted.

I can that if you are a specialist architect or work for an internaional company there may be a chance. I used to work years ago for an International Construction company, the only English guys I remember in the US were very senior management, QS's etc worked everywhere else, but never knew of one going stateside.

For you to practice as an architect, and stamp drawings, you will need a license in the state in which you practice. You will probably have to work under the tutoring of a registered architect for 3 years, before you can apply. With regard to building regs, many states are beginning to adopt the UBC. You will have to become familiar with these, also local codes. You will need to know certain aspects of OSHA. With regard to salary, as an engineer, I can tell you that they are paid more than architects. Depending where you start work, you can expect to start off at 28K to 35K. Industrial construction is spotty right now. In SE Tennessee, Volkswagen is getting ready to start pouring concrete for a new manufacturing facility, and TVA has begun construction on a once abandoned unit at Spring City. These are just some brief details, which I could enlarge on later, if need be.
