I called them today, please note that phone number for name checks is:
202-324-2399 and for fingerprint check is: 304-625-5590;

Name check folks do not talk to you, they instead direct you to an
email address: [email protected] but the fingerprint check they talk
to you. Your delays are because of a name check, just like mine;

Will let you know when I receive the email, hopefully they will reply
Is there any other method to check on the "Name Check"? Other than the
email address? Thanks

There have been many posts about the background checks if you do some searching thru www.britishexpats.com

In my signature line is a link to detailed information about the namecheck process directly from the FBI.

There are many people waiting for their "administrative processing" which is being held up due to the namecheck, even before they get their visa to come to the US to be with their spouse. Many are seperated from their loved ones and waiting months or years. Appreciate that you are with your spouse in the US and try to be patient. Doing some research on the subject will pass some time and hopefully let you see that you are not alone and they really will complete it at some point, hopefully sooner than later.

Hello everyone,

Does anyone know if FBI name check/fingerprint check delay has anything to do with the delay in processing of I-131 Advance Parole document???? I applied more than 100 days ago but haven't recieved any update. Thanks.

I called FBI Name Check division today, they told me the average window
is between 18-30 months in most of the delayed names that got a hit.
Good Luck to me and everybody, I am already at the 23rd month.

I also applied for Advanced Parole and Work Permit Renewal. I don't
think Advanced Parole will have a relation with our Name Check. I
believe name check is done very carefully before they give you the
permenant residency so that terrorists don't join a government agancy.
My congressman's office told me they expect the FBI will eliminate the
backlog by the end of August. So we will see. Any positive or negative
info to share?

The FBI checks are not the only checks, our AOS application is still pending (9 months) after a 'successful' interview. We emailed and called the FBI only to find they had cleared both the fingerprints and name check three months after our interview. There is some other check (I think from the CIS) that is still pending and NO WAY to find out the status of that.

Dear All,

My GC was approved in 2004 and they stamped on my passport and i was told by immigration officer that you will be recieving physical GC in mail.

When i have not recieved anything, i went to INS and they said your GC was issued by us cause of an error and he cancled my GC and said your name is still in pending from Name Check FBI division.

I called my lawyer, she advised me to stay there and she called INIS office. In short, they re-stamped on my passport again for next six months. I sent an email to FBI name check division, faxed them and wrote a letter to them. But I have not recieved any response yet. I still have valid I-551 stamp on my passort which is going to be expire soon and cause of this i can not have 5 yrs driving license.

Kindly give me any advice or any suggestion.

sorry if it seemed like I am posting the same info over and over; well
nowadays what worries me is not the greencard itself, what worries me
the most is the ability simply to work and drive. I submitted a work
permit renewal more than 5 months ago and my current work permit is
very close to expire. "Again I am stuck in the pending I-485 due to the
FBI name check"
I am now trying the senators office and I consulted a second lawyer who
gave me that senator's name. I am praying that I won't loose my job at
least, also the freedom of driving. What can I do, I am at a closing
point right now, I guess I learned a very good leason of waiting! and
being extremely polite, sometimes in life you have to wait for a very
long time and to be polite while you wait! CIS taught me that. My first
lawyer is a very good one, I haven't fired him, here is what I tried so
far:
-Emailed and called the FBI
-Tried the congressman's office
-Mailed and visited and called CIS lots and lots of times
-Tried the senators office
-Got good reference letters from my employer
-FIled FD-258 with the FBI
-Made background check with the local and statewide namecheck system
-Filed freedom of information act with the FBI

No I haven't given up yet, because I love this country, and I love a
woman from this country, and I studied and worked hard in here.
Please share your experiences and ask questions so that I might
answer!
Or Please give me some hints

do the paperwork
and submit the fee you can go online and

The problem is if you call FBI name check division they dont tell you anything, and if you email them they take forever.
did any get response from FBI name check divison ?
How fast they reply your emails ?

I sent an email with all my info in May 05.

Please let me know if you guys have any number or any hint i can follow up with them, my GC is pending cause of my name check.

Last I heard, FBI was taking up to 6 months to respond to email inquiries.
