F2 to H1-B?
We have a recent post-doctorate (completed phd outside of US) who is in US on F2 visa (spouse of F1). After reviewing her phd work, a non-profit research institute has offered her (today) some temporary assignment critiquing some research articles, with some compensation for the effort.
Does she need to have her F2 visa changed to H1-B or J-1 before she can accept this offer? She also already has a H4 visa application in place (H1-B filed for by spouse's employer), if that makes any difference. Thanks for any comments. |
Re: F2 to H1-B?
If she goes to H4, so can't work and if her OH is changing status to H1, once he gets that she won't be F2, don't even know if able to work on that.
I don't know if she'll be able to get a J1, but might be worth consulting with a immigration lawyer, especially if there might be a 2 year HRR tagged on to it or not. |

Would it reasonable to think changing to J1 generally harder to do if you're already in the US? DS 2019, IAP 66 etc etc. Also, does J1 allow this type of work? I wasn 't completely sure.
