Default Extending visa from Department of State while in the US

Hi everybody,

I had decided to take advantage of the opportunity to extend my entry
visa into the US by filing it while in the country to the Department
of State. Now I am becoming very concerned as it's been 3 months and I
have not heard a thing yet... It says on their web site that it should
take anywhere from 4 to 6 weeks... Unfortunately, there's no phone
number provided to check on the status or inquire. I found a fax
number that they have provided for cancellation of the application so
I used that to try to get any response. No luck.
Can anyone share their experiences with filing for the entry visa from
the Department of State as of recently? Should I be concerned that my
passport is lost?

Thank you for your time...

Sergei

Where did you see the number of 4 to 6 weeks? On the official Department
of State Web site (there is a link to it on my FAQ page), it says "as of
April, 10 to 12 weeks". From all accounts, that seems to still be
approximately accurate.
