Hi everyone
Does anyone here have experience with Direct Consular Filing from Australia? My wife
and I (she is currently in australia living with me) wish to return to the USA as
soon as possible, but looking at the information, we would get stopped short filing
this way because of the Affidavit of Support.. Since she is in australia and not
working in the US, she would not be able to lodge this form, and her family in the US
wouldnt be useful either.
Is there a method of obtaining a visa through this process bypassing or using some
other method of support that the consulate would accept? (ie, by us having X
amount of money to take with us back to the US or by either of us finding a job
before we filied??)
Thanks
Aaron & Karen

You are allowed to use assets, either foreign or US, as long as they are readily
convertible into US dollars. You have to divide them by 5 in order to get the income
equivalent: $25,000 assets=$5,000 yearly income. matta
