Hi,
if someone enters the USA with a L1 visa, how long after entering does he have to start? Is there a grace period (in order to get SSN, search for car, apartment...)
In this case, the person wants to enter the US 1 month before he actually wants to start the job. The visa has already been issued and the contract with the employer starts beginning of January. The person wants to enter beginning of December.

I believe it's 30 days. By the way, you are allowed to work before you
receive the SSN. Just write "applied for" in the documentation for the
employer, and provide it within 90 days. Of course, that requires that the
employer will let you work without SSN; many don't know about this rule.
