As others have mentioned, you do not qualify for a H1B visa. You either need a degree or 12 years progressive experience, as well as applying for a job/position that requires a degree.

If you're determined to move to the US, why not study for a degree there? It's very expensive (think around $50k a year), however afterwards you're allowed to work for 12 (or possibly 29) months which gives you time to network and get sponsorship. It'll also give you a good taste of what it's like to live in the US.

Best of luck.

What you think is largely irrelevant regarding immigration. What the US government thinks is what you need to be concerned with. You might think that you have specialist skills but based on what you said they sound pretty standard. Courses teaching the same skills are 10 a penny here and can be found all over the place from seminars to structured certification programs. Most companies that would be sponsoring visas often do them in house or send employees to day/week courses or pay for longer ones done at local universities or colleges.

There are about 13 million unemployed people in the US which represents about 8.5% of the work force. Realistically, where do you think your skills would put you in a list of about 160,000,000 people?

Here's a hint... if you want to demonstrate your "specialist skills", try a Google search next time - before asking questions.

I'm afraid your benefits assessor experience counts for nothing over here. I speak from experience - I was a benefits assessor in the UK. I also have 2 degrees and ten+ years experience in banking, investments and compliance. I can't find a suitable job and am considering whether I could retrain to do something completely different.
