My husband works as a consultant at a major financial firm in NYC. We are both
English. All the consultants in his department received a termination notice today
effective in a month. His H1 visa will still be valid as he is employed by a
consulting company. In the event that he cannot find another job in a month, will he
have to leave the country? The consulting company he is with pays approximately 75k
as a "bench salary" which is about half of what he is earning today( after the
consultancy company takes its cut). Is it legal to be on the bench salary and stay on
with the H1 until he finds other work? Any advice would be appreciated.

well, No worries. As long as ur hubby`s consulting company can pay $50K per year. It
does not affect the status. Talk to guys from india. You can find lotta guys without
pay on bench for a year. Your husband is luckiest person, I must say. Because he is
getting $75K per annum on bench.

No worries. Good luck Aleph
