Embassy Closings

Are these people on drugs? They close the Argentine consulate and leave the London open? THe Argentines don't care whether we win or lose this, the British are practically footing half the bill for the war and they decide to close the Argentine Consulate. That makes no sense to me. Again, I would be bitter but... I don't expect logical decisions out of this administration.
Claudia thanks but at this point, Oscar and I have jus told ourselves it will be August before we see each other. I am anticipating a long wait again. The situation with the NVC is ridiculous as well. There is no tracking system in place. So... I can't hope anything else but that someone has mervy on us after all we have been through. So far... I'm thinking I better just sit and wait it out. Can't take much more protesting. My nerves have had it. But I'll remember in November 2004. Trust me.

I am very sorry to hear this news, I especially feel for people that are waiting for the Consulate to work on their papers.
However, I truly feel this will be temporary and short term. So keep up the hopes. My husband got his visa exactly 1 week ago, and to think that the Consulate in Venezuela is on the mentioned "blacklist"!!!
Xiomi and Ange...
Let's hope for the best, I am sure everything will be fine. Remember I also went through this months ago when the Consulate in Caracas was closed for more than a month due to the political unrest. Guess what, I made it, and so will you guys!

I am very concerned about all of the violence in Paris....Eric is there every day and can't help but to worry....
He was doing some work at the Eiffel Tower a few days ago..and being a landmark, I can't help but worry.
Of course I want my petition approved quickly, but with the embassy closed, I don't know what will happen.
Honestly, I don't know that I even care at the moment, I just want him to be safe when he comes home from work. I love him to the very depths of my soul. And I can't wait to hear his sweet voice when I come home from work and call him every evening.
Be safe my hunny.....I love you....
(Sorry for being sappy, but I do so worry about him)

It s just plain stupid to trash a Mc Do but understandible.

I agree. Plus they have real ice cream in the shakes and deep fried apple pies, like US McD used to have. I read somewhere about an attack on a French business in the US. This is ridiculous.
As to the fact that it is ridiculous, I guess everybody pretty much agrees on that!!!

Which is unfortunate for while they may represent "america" they are
owned and operated by local people as far as I know.

The most ludicruous story with MacDo was that time a group for the independence of Brittany (a groups nobody had heard of before and that has a number of members you can probably count with your fingers) put a bomb in a MacDo in Brittany. Don't ask me why [NB: they want independence from France...]. Nobody ever understood that one!

well my wifes country is on the list of closures
I was thinking that this might happen and was discussing with my lawyer about changing consulates from Nairobi to Toyko. My wife is currently in Japan and I feel this is a much safer place for her and my son to be at this time. My lawyer basically told me not to choose to change at this time for it might cause delays in processing... as we just recently recieved our 2nd NOA for the 129-F.
They just opened the brand new consulate in Kenya just a few days before I left for Japan (1st week of this month) Has anyone ever and/or heard a similar instance on changing consulates mid-process ??? I wont be able to contact my lawyer until Monday and I can sense how strongly he feels against changing at this time.

Hi All,
We live in uncertain times. The war in Iraq proves that. So do these embassy
closings. Of course many of us are directly affected by this, myself
included. The embassy in Buenos Aires, Argentina is where Salvador will have
his interview. I'm not giving up. My efforts will continue. As I read the
CNN article, it just said closed to the public. So at least in my case the
embassy staff is still in the bldg doing their job. Perhaps to be seen is by
appt only and not by walk-in. Remember, by the time the interview is
scheduled, the fiance/fiancee has already gone thru several security checks.
They are not threats to national security, on the contrary they will uphold
American life and values. So it's been 19 days since our 1st noa. Patiently
waiting for the next step.

Toria,
I also will be submitting an I-129F on Monday for my fiancee who is in Argentina - might be helpful for us to stay in touch, especially when dealing with the embassy in Buenos Aires. If you're interested, email me at [email protected]. What service center are you going through? I'll be going through NSC.

Hi Deanna,
Would love to keep in touch. Salvador is living in Pompeya. He is finding it
very hard to make ends meet in the Argentine economy. He is an engineer by
trade, mechanical. He calls himself a metallurgist. We are going thru the
Vermont Service Ctr because I live in Philadelphia. Please email me at

Deanna, the embassy is actually good about emailing back and forth lately. If your fiancee provides them with a completed DS-230 Part one they may open his provisional file.

Ange,
Thanks for the input. I will look into the DS230 form. We also have another roadblock that we need to look into. He tried to return to the US on March 10 with a B2 tourist visa and was detained and issued a expedited removal (deportation). He was told he could not return for 5 years!!!
After doing some research, it looks like when we get approved on the I-129F, we'll need to submit an I-212 waiver which, if approved, will allow him to return within the 5-years.
I'm not sure how the DS230 and I-212 forms work. Which do we submit first?
Has anyone else had any problems similar to this?

I'm so sorry to hear that. Now, he tried to return on March 10, does that mean he overstayed before? I am assuming he did otherwise no pt in deporting him. What POE did he try to come into. Hope it wasn't Miami. They are on a mission from God (Allah, the almighty dollar who ever they pray to) that no one is going to get passed them. When I returned from Argentina, I could hear the grilling the officers give people coming from Argentina as non citizens.
Regarding the 230, I don't know the answer to that but if I learn of how the process is, I will post.
