But a few people tried to demolish a McD's in Paris yesterday
McDonald "resturants" have always had a hard life in France because they crystallize America in the eyes of French people.

I think we should all try not to panic about these closings, historically we know that they reopen ASAP. But I would sure be upset if I were rescheduled during this time, let's all pray that we get through this quickly.

I will have to agree with that. I am sure that they will reopen when the protests have slowed down and the staff can expect to be able to go home after their working day...

I agree with you. Mark's interview is at the London Consulate this Monday -- and although that embassy isn't closed, I'm terrified that he'll arrive show up after his medical exam, only to discover that they've closed the Embassy after all. If his interview were suddenly postponed indefinitely, it would feel like a knife twisting in my chest!! As it stands now, I won't feel 100% relieved until I know he's got the visa in hand, which would be Monday afternoon.

I consider ourselves VERY lucky that London is still open and operating, but I certainly can imagine what it would be like to discover one's embassy has been closed and how painful that would be -- my thoughts are with all of you who are going through an embassy that is temporarily shut down.

I am very sorry to hear this news, I especially feel for people that are waiting for the Consulate to work on their papers.

However, I truly feel this will be temporary and short term. So keep up the hopes. My husband got his visa exactly 1 week ago, and to think that the Consulate in Venezuela is on the mentioned "blacklist"!!!

Xiomi and Ange...

Let's hope for the best, I am sure everything will be fine. Remember I also went through this months ago when the Consulate in Caracas was closed for more than a month due to the political unrest. Guess what, I made it, and so will you guys!

Have you SEEN any of the newsclips about some of those protests???
"Beefing up security" won't help much if there are 10,000 people
surrounding the building!!! People wouldn't be able to go in and out
safely! Get real! Who would want their fiance trying to get through
a huge crowd of angry protestors!!!!????? I understand none of us
want further delays, but for God's sake, think of safety!!!

Which is unfortunate for while they may represent "america" they are
owned and operated by local people as far as I know.

Interesting characterisation. You might be like the political cartoons
of Steve Bell, such as

I agree. Plus they have real ice cream in the shakes and deep fried
apple pies, like US McD used to have. I read somewhere about an attack
on a French business in the US. This is ridiculous.
