Default EB3 waiting time

Hi everyone,
some months ago, in another thread, I pointed out that the waiting time for the EB3 was two years. In the past it had also been 7 years.
Right now, I see on the visa bulletin and on another forum that the waiting time is 17days. I add that the 'Cut-off date' is 07/15/15 which I suppose is the date by which you must submit your EB3 request.

I suppose, though, that somehow I read it wrong, 17 days waiting time for a possible green card?

I'm not sure where you've seen 17 days, according to this months visa bulletin they're processing applications received on 1st April, so approx 3.5 months waiting time before processing starts.

EB3 was current last year I believe, so it's gone backwards a bit, but it's still much quicker than the years it used to take.

Yes, but still how is it possible that you are a few months away from a green card? When most people have problems finding the right visa to just enter the USA temporarily?
Or even, illegally?
It is so easy to be true. Everyone I suppose would request a EB3, especially because there are available also unskilled worker.
Something doesn't just sound right.

You are not a few months away from getting a green card.

You are a few months away from them starting to process your greencard application. From what I remeber being told it typically takes 6-12 months to get through the process itself.

What I really don't understand, though, is why people bother applying for non immigrant visa (j, H etc.) which are temporary in nature, when you are simply months away from a green card and you can easily apply, with an employer, for an EB3.

Millions of people should apply for EB3 every day, but since it's not the case, I don't know where there is the trick.

Because alot of people do not qualify for an EB3, or their employer refuses to sponsor them for it (since it means their employee can quit and work for anyone)

But if someone happens to know the employer?
Plus, for 'the unskilled workers' it seems to me like a free-for-all immigrant-visa. But, again, I hope someone will shed light on this...

Why do you think an unskilled worker would find it easy to qualify for an green card under the EB3 category?

The Labor Cert would surely make it pretty tricky.......

I've read this entire thread several times, and I'm still not sure what you're yammering on about! You're asking nebulous questions about why people do one thing instead of another... as though we should know how other people think!

Aug EB3 is Jul 2015 but you still need to be skilled and you still need a employer willing to pay $$$

Employment-Based Immigration: Third Preference EB-3 | USCIS

The site does say that there is a backlog of many years for the unskilled visa, and it has to be for a position that can't be filled by someone in the US, so, basically not available..

Since everyone who would like to move to the USA wants to do it easily and without temporary restraints, I'm wondering why most people overlook this particular visa which gives you the Green Card and, on paper at least, you don't need to be qualified (unskilled worker), the waiting time is non existent and the employer only has to put a job offer for 30 days to comply with Labor and show no Americans need this job.
Or... I'm missing something and it's way more difficoult than on paper.

On the Visa buletin as of August 2015 actually the cut off date is the same for EB3 skilled and unskilled workers

The cut off date is the date they START processing the visa, and has nothong whatsoever to do with the length of time, which, if you had taken the trouble to READ the link, you would have seen where it says that for unskilled workers there is a backlog of many years.

It says a 'long wait', but it seems that is out of date, as the current visa bulletin does say April 2015, so the same length of time for 'other workers' as other EB3 category workers.
