If you have gone through AOS, you don't need an EAD, you have your green card. I think what you mean is whether it is necessary to file for AOS in order to get an EAD. In the case of K-3s, no. A K-3 can file for an EAD without filing for AOS.
It seems balmy that with all the experience and knowledge on this newsgroup
that -despite my reading nearly every post on the matter - the issue of EAD
still confuses me.
Am I right in thinking that you can't apply for a permanent EAD (work
permit) until you've gone through AOS?

The Interim is only good for 90 days, Leslie's hubby got a 2 year one but it was not an interim EAD
, Rete! don't drive me crazy please lol.

No Hyper, but I believe you are wrong. An interim EAD is good for one year; not 90 days. The temporary EAD is good for 90 days.

The interim EAD we got was good for 8 months-Feb-Sep this year.
