EAD question

My Canadian husband got his K-3 issued in September and entered the US (POE was in Blaine, WA). They did not issue on EAD. We will be applying for the EAD at the end of the month. Due to my recent layoff (got the notice last week) , we are holding off on applying for the AOS (since I have to fill out the affadavit of support)
He is still working in Vancouver, BC and commuting to our home in Blaine/
1. How long is the EAD good for once it is issued?
2. Can we go to the Seattle INS office to get the EAD instead of mailing it?(I=130 was recently approved)?
3. If we can go to Seattle, what info/documents do we need?
4. Due to the layoff, should we hold off until March to apply for the AOS (we will have been living together for 6 months by then).
5. If we have been living together for 6 months, can we also use his salary on the affadavit of support?
Thanks in advance for your help!

One year. You can renew it.

I was able to get my EAD at the Miami local INS office when my EAD did
not come in time.

I had brought the green card (I-495) receipt notice with me. I also
bought the EAD receipt notice. This showed that I had waited over so
many days, and that I had not received my EAD yet.

No. You can file the application package in person, but there is no
advantage to doing so over mailing the package. See
http://www.kamya.com/aos/was-
hington.html#seattle. He will receive an
appointment to have his photo taken and EAD issued a few weeks after the
filing date.

I'll leave it up to you to piece this together from all the websites and the
alt.visa.us.marriage-based group. There are a lot of documents.

Either that, or get a joint sponsor.

Yes. To do that, you and he must execute the I-864A, Contract between
Sponsor and Household Member.
