EAD/AOS Confusion????
Okay, I'm confused. I got two notices in the mail today. One is for
my AOS interview in Atlanta in the middle of April, the other is for
my fingerprint appointment in a few days. I assumed the fingerprint
appointment was for my EAD which I filed at the same time as my AOS
(three months ago) but on the fingerprint appt. sheet it says 'form
No: I-485' which is the AOS form number. So am I getting
fingerprinted to work or for AOS stuff? I can't see getting a AOS
interview before getting an EAD. I could care less about getting my
status changed. I've been here for five months and really want to
work so thats all I'm concerned about at the moment. Meanwhile I
thought I would be getting my EAD at Atlanta but I'm actually going to
Birmingham Alabama which also leads me to believe I'm not getting my
EAD at all but just fingerprinted.
If anyone could offer any insight that would be great.
Thanks
Karen

If it were for an EAD then your letter would say to come it at such and such a time and date for your employment authorization card. There is no fingerprint appointment for that. An EAD only utilizes one digit and that is for placement on the card.
You have been told to report for fingerprinting for your FBI/CIA clearance in preparation for the AOS interview in April.

Re: EAD/AOS Confusion????
Thanks!
So can I assume that while I'm there for my AOS interview I can get a
temp. EAD? By then it will have been two weeks past the 'supposed 90
day processing time. It just doesn't make sense to me to give me the
AOS interview before the EAD. If I have to drive another six plus
hours to get my EAD I'll scream.

If your prints have cleared and you pass the interview that day you won't need an EAD as you will have been made a CPR with an I-551 stamp in your passport. But if there is a delayed in issuing the stamp and you still do not have your EAD by that time, yes, of course, you can demand your EAD while you are there.
Chances are you will be getting the EAD notice of pickup in the mail before mid-April though.

Well I certainly hope what you say is true. That would be sweet. It
would suck that I paid for the EAD and didn't actually get one though.
Thanks a lot for your help.
