EAD?

I got this list today from my lawyer:

Copy of current valid passport * (/)

Copy of birth certificate (long form) * (/)

Copy of Arrival-Departure card (I-94) (if any)

Copy of Form IAP-66, if current or prior status was J-1

Copy of Form I-20, if current or prior status was F-1 or M-1

Copy of all previous visa approval notices: I-797 (if applicable)

Copy of your last EAD (front and back) (if any)

1 photograph as per specifications taken within 30 days of the date of this petition *

What is an EAD? They never actually explained this to us.

Re: EAD?

Employment Authorization Document. This is a document giving a person legal status to work in the United States Of America. It is renewable. It has fewer privileges than a green card.

Of course it has fewer privileges than a green card because it isn't a green card.

It has fewer privaleges than a green card, because it's not a green card. The function of a green card and function of an EAD are completely different.

To the OP, if you don't know what an EAD is, chances are you never had one. ;)

I was thinking in terms of the GC vs EAD WRT employment, not in terms of overall function. WRT employment, the EAD does not have fewer privileges.
