Default E-mail notification from VSC only - your experience ?

Hi there lovely people !

I've been wondering if the e-mail notification from the USCIS website is efficient.

I'm waiting to my permanent GC, submitted everything 4 months ago (yes I know it takes time and I'd be glad to hear from people how long theirs took through VCS)... However - my question to you is -
did the e-mail notification actually worked? Did you actually god an email and then the card in the mail ? If so, how long.

Please notice- I care about ONLY VCS users - (as I know it's different in other states).

I assume the people who will answer will understand that i'm talking about the automatic email notification after feeding the site with the EAC number.
Thank you people.

ging.
