E-1 Visa questions

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I am a UK citizen about to apply for an E-1 visa to run my buisness in Southern California.

Has anyone any useful information or pitfalls.

My plan is to apply in London but I could apply in LA if this would be preferable.

Many thanks

I am planning E-1 as we export more than 50% of our software to CA.

There are two things I can suggest:

- hire a competent attorney experienced with E-1s

- carefully consider your future life plans; E visas can be a dead end.
Some people have used E visas to build a business in the USA and kept
renewing them for most of their career, only to find that when it came
time to retire, they were stuck with nowhere to go. E-1s are *not* usually
good ways of getting a Green Card.
