Hello all,
I am one among lucky winners of DV lottery 2007, so
I have two questions :
1. Sholud I send my application to KCC in original envelop
(in which application was sent to me) or can I use
a new envelop?
2. This question is harder. My girlfriend and I have been
living in common low relationship 5 years upto now. In
my DV 2007 entrance I wrote that I am married, but in
matter of fact, I am not. In April this year I scheduled
my wedding for June this year. The letter from KCC I
recieved in May. What should I do? In my opinion I have
two solutions : a) get marry instantly b)cover letter in
which I will explain everything.
Has anybody got a better idea?
Thanks in advance.

The fact that you lied in your application could cause you serious problem. How could you explain that you have declared that you are married even though you are not. They are considering only facts that are true and accurate at the moment of filing the application.
You should have written that you are not married, and if you got married during application process, then you can easily adjust your status (same as having another baby, or getting divorced).
All in all you have a mistake! You can try to explain but you have slim chances.
Good luck

To be honest your chances are almost none; If I were you I would pray. Only God can help you now; even for him it will be difficult.

Does the fact that they may been married under the common law of his
home country make any difference? Or does the form exclude common-law
marriages??
I dont see how getting married now will make up for the earlier lie
unless you can somehow backdate the certificate which would also be
lying....
Cheers

I don't know about your Country's Law but the question in the Form is very clear "are you married". Is marriage is a weak institution in Croatia it could be that the Counsel gives you a hand. Be frank with him a Counsel is familiarised with the culture of the Country where he works.
I would not encourage a backdated certificate; that is fraud and you could be prosecuted for that. You could loose both visa and freedom.
