Dv-2005
Hi there , I am among the winners for the DV-2005 program. I live in
the US right now on F1 visa. My question is what are the next steps
for me , should I get a laywer for my case. I know I need to adjust my
status here in the USCIS but what do I need to do ,, does any one know
the application I need or forms that I need to prepare? thanks for
help in advance.

You don't "have to" do AOS. You can, if you wish do Consular Processing in your home country which is often a lot faster and more straightforward. You should probably check what your number is (it's on the letter you got) and try and get an informed opinion on when you may be called. Personally, unless I knew I was going to be called very early on, I'd do CP. Remember, there is a time limit with DV cases. You must have the process fully completed by the end of September 2005 or you lose. Some people end up not being able to complete their AOS because of various backlogs in security checks and at the USCIS offices. CP, although a bit more inconvenient, bypasses those backlogs.
Good Luck!

Then, definitely worth consulting a lawyer ....
