Default Dublin pre-clearance

Hey guys

Trying to look into flights going from London via Dublin for the preclearance, ending up in either Denver or Albuquerque, whatevers cheapest!

However, I cant find a flight less than a couple of thousand! This seems outrageous when I get get a flight for £400 straight there. I know a lot of people have flown this route so anyone got any tips im missing, or did people just sacrifice and pay the higher price?

Also if anyone could clear up how the trip would work too. ie, if i clear Dublin, am I GUARENTEED entry into the US, and if so, how do you bypass custom when you arrive?!

Thanks!

You clear US immigration in Dublin, therefore when the flight lands in the US it lands as an internal flight. Not all flights I'm told do this as the US immigration only cover certain hours, ie. 9 to 5.

Cant help with cheap flights, whenever I looked Aer Lingus was cheap to the US but to get from the mainland to Dublin was VERY expensive based on baggage allowance with the cheap carriers.

The answer seems obvious, doesn't it?

Why do you need to do the pre-clearance? You have a criminal record or have abusing the VWP?

Um, it's called 'secondary markets' and they're always more expensive to fly in/out of than a major market like London.

Tip: Albuquerque will always be a secondary market. What we say about the one I live in is: You can't get there from here. It's not the distance that matters, it's the popularity of the route.

Going through Dublin is no guarantee, so unless you've had an excessive visiting history, you may be over doing it.

Not yet, at the moment there is still only immigration clearance in Dublin, full customs + immigration will only be in place in Terminal 2 when it is fully up and running (sometime after Christmas).

No criminal history or abuse of the VWP. I have used the VWP a lot, but I have always spent more time in England than in the US so that seems to be satisfactory.

My problem is I have been pulled into secondary questioning the last two times I went. Was let through both times, so they obviously found no problems, but my worry is that now that its recorded that ive been pulled aside, it is going to happen every time, and the probability of them letting me in only goes down if ive got an IV pending.

Am i crazy here?!
