Default Detroit Naturalization Processing Times

Just applied for citizenship in the last couple of weeks. Got my biometrics notice for next week. The letter gave an estimate of 12 months to process. Just wondering if that’s realistic or if it might be quicker considering the bio stuff was scheduled so quickly. Any thoughts to the accuracy of the estimated times?

Even if you find people who were quicker than 12 months it does not mean yours will be. There really is no way of knowing. Via the website they say 8 to 18.5 months, so that helpful (not!). https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/

It is usually standard to receive the biometric appointment quickly. It has no bearing on the actual timeline for your naturalization. Is there a reason why you would like it quicker or are you just curious or impatient

My wife is running for County Commissioner and it would be nice to vote for her in November. Sounds like there’s not much chance of that happening. Oh, well.

Thanks for the replies, folks.

Certainly some offices have been processing them very rapidly (3.5 months in our case; estimations varied but something like 8-12 months), while neighbouring offices are still on 12 months or more. I don't recall any recent first hand experience posted about Detroit though - so please keep us updated!

See, this chimes in quite nicely with what I thought I'd read on here a few weeks ago, that Detroit was operating pretty quick turnarounds. That's why I thought I might have a chance of voting in November. I'll certainly keep y'all updated.

Varies so much by office. ATL (on which a couple of us here are waiting) is currently 10-19 months.
