Re: Deported...
You really need to read some history books.
Spain colonised Texas/California etc. the same time as the East coast was colonised by the Brits. When America became independent, Americans were incentivized (invented word) by the Spanish to colonise Texas and California because there weren't enough colonists there.
American colonists soon grew in numbers and resented the Spanish rules (like having to be Roman Catholic) and sued to seperate and become part of America. America sent troops in to assist.
The whole concept of 'we were there first' is bollocks. Native Americans were there first - but they were in the United States first too and look what happened to them. As for the Spanish people? They were there at the same time, there weren't enough of them and that's why they lost the territory.

Actually Roland, the Spanish were established in what is now the continental USA well before the other European colonists: the oldest continuously inhabited European settlement in the USA is St. Augustine in FLorida, founded in 1565 - three or more decades before any English or Dutch settlements on the north east coast (and they had other settlements in Florida before that). Plus Spanish explorers like De Soto and Ponce de Leon were trekking around the interior of the southern USA for several decades before that.

California and a large part of Texas were part of the Spanish colony of New Spain from 1521 until it became a province of Mexico, after they declared independence from Spain in 1810. Settlers from the USA didn't start appearing in California until the 1820s, then later that whole area was ceded by Mexico to the USA as part of the Treaty of Guadeloupe-Hidalgo at the end of the Mexican-American war in 1848.

I stick by my appraisal of Texas, though.

Most Mexicans are Native Americans.
"Human presence in Mexico has been shown to date back 40,000 years based upon ancient human footprints discovered in the Valley of Mexico(previous evidence substantiated indigenous inhabitants at 12,500 years ago)."
"Mexico as a nation-state has struggled with reconciling its deeply-entrenched indigenous heritage with the demands of the modern Western cultural model imposed in 1519. The nation's name is derived from the Mexican civilization (known in popular culture as the Aztecs)."

Believe it or not there were actually people living in North America before either the Spanish, French or British even knew of its existence.

I've had a quite a few discussions about illegals being born here and immediately receiving citizenship. In every other civilized country round the world, a child takes the nationality of its parents. Case in point, my wife, born in Hong Kong (dad in the army there). Is she Chinese? NO!
However, no politician here seems to have the testicular fortitude to grasp this particular nettle.
Take this argument to its (il)logical conclusion and you'll believe that Jesus Christ was a donkey, because he was born in a stable!
