Re: Dallas Texas - H1B
all depends on the employer and if they decide that the job requires a masters or a PHD. That would push it into EB2 or EB1, that in itself would also be checked out when they do the labor cert/perm. Basically they have to go through the motions of advertising the position and doing a complete recruitment process that gets documented and submitted, then checked to show that the job is not aomething that a citizen could do.
From what you describe of the job i'd guess its EB3 with just an 'ordinary' degree. Getting the I140 is relatively painless, its being able to then file the AOS that brings in this delay. EB1/2 bypass DOL completely and go straight to USCIS, but thats not to say they can't use the PERM process.
You didn't mention is it just you coming over or is it you + spouse? If so don't forget they wont be able to work until you are able to file for the AOS. Once you do that its a fee and a wait period (3 months????) before EAD comes through.
We came over just as they changed the rules, what my missus thought was gonna be a year off work and then being able to return to working is now way way off (unless she can get a work visa of her own)
You'd do well to speak to the immigration lawyer the company uses as they will be able to advise far better than any of us lot how it affects you

saucyboy,
unlike london, there is no ug tube. to reach richardson, you can catch
a share shuttle from dfw. can run you around 25-40 usd. it may take a
while. but, you'll get there. depending upon where you want to live,
dallas is ok. living accommodation maybe higher than richardson. don't
know why you'd want to live in dallas if you can live within
richardson proper.
dallas is just like any other big cities. if you're unlucky, doesn't
matter where you are. overall it's ok. distance is a problem here. you
may seriously think about your own transportation. the dart (dallas
area rapid transit) rail doesn't have the extensive network that the
tube has.
at any rate, don't worry too much at this point. cross that bridge
when you get to it.

No idea, should they be? they do have a lawyer processing all their H1's, they did say they are recruiting quiet a few candidates.
Looks like I will need to do a masters
