The ongoing problem with delays in issuing K visas at the Moscow and
China consulates, and the affected U.S. consulates in 31 other
countries, warrants your immediate attention.
The reason given by the Department of State for the delay is the
additional "administrative processes", which are a fallout from the
terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.
We, as Americans, accept and understand the need for stricter control
of our borders to minimize infiltration by terrorists, and we
understand that these administrative processes require longer
processing times for all classes of visas. We also understand that
mitigating circumstances often require that visa processing for
businessmen, students and other travelers have a higher priority for
expedited approval than other visa types.
What is not acceptable is the apparent relegating of K visa reviews
and approvals to the backburner. As of July 22, the Moscow consulate
has not issued any K visas. As of August 1, the Guangzhou consulate
in China has not issued a single K visa. There has not been a single
explanation by DOS thus far for ignoring K visas. We have all been
left in the dark for over two months.
Hundreds upon hundreds of our wives, fiancees and their children (our
stepchildren in the case of K3 visa applicants) have had their lives,
and ours, put on an indefinite holding pattern. This is how America,
the most compassionate country in the world, has continued to treat
this particular group of citizens and their loved ones.
All we are asking is that our government treat us with dignity and
respect, and cease ignoring our plight. Please consider our situation
and bring recognition of this injustice to the proper levels of
government for appropriate and expeditious resolution.
Sincerely,

I still think the phrase: "the most compassionate country in
the world" is out of order. You might want to please them,
but stay honest please
Suggestion: "This is how America, claiming to be one of the
most compassionate countries of the world, has continued....".
